Welcome. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in psychology (with honors). I obtained both my master’s and doctoral degrees from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology - Chicago. While the bulk of my practice has been in private practice, I also have experience working in hospitals, community mental health centers, university counseling centers, and the court system.
My areas of expertise include anxiety, depression and bipolar disorders, grief and bereavement, ADHD, coping with medical conditions, and stress management. I am an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and provide supportive and gender-affirming care. I especially enjoy working with teens and young adults as they navigate the transition to adulthood in the face of enormous pressures; including college and career choices, dating, social media, and more.
My view of therapy is that you are your own best expert. As Carl Rogers said, “As no one else can know how we perceive, we are the best experts on ourselves”. My role is to help empower you to overcome the obstacles that have been impeding you from making the changes necessary to meet your goals and live your best life.
Although the basis of my work is from a humanistic model, I regularly incorporate cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other evidence-based techniques to tailor treatment to your needs. I aim to provide a warm, non judgmental, and safe environment as you work through the thoughts and feelings that are most difficult.
Contact me for a free phone consultation. If I am not the ideal fit for you or your loved one, I am happy to assist in finding someone who is. On a personal note, I am a wife and mom to two active boys, a hockey fan, an animal lover, a thrift store junkie, and always looking to discover a new band, recipe, or good book.
